KEDA SCHOLARSHIPS KEDA offers two scholarships to attend the Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC). The scholarship pays the tuition cost of $595. If interested in applying for a scholarship, complete the scholarship application form and email to mary.perez@ks.gov or fax to (785) 296-3490. Deadline to submit the scholarship application is Fri., Jan. 8, 2021. The Scholarship Committee will review applications and make their recommendation for awards in mid to late January 2021. The Scholarship Committee is also offering up to $1,000 for other in person and online learning offered by national and multi-state professional development organizations such as International Economic Development Council, Economic Development Institute, National Rural Economic Development Association, Mid-America Economic Development Council, the National Development Council, Southern Economic Development Council and Community Development Institute. Professional development learning opportunities presented by other entities may be authorized by the Scholarship Committee. Heartland has made the decision to move the April 13-16 and April 19-22 basic economic development courses online due to factors relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two courses will be combined into one course that will be held over three weeks on the following dates: April 6, 2021 (welcome and overview of the course - 8:00 to 10:00 am) April 7, 2021 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm April 8, 2021 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm April 14, 2021 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm April 15, 2021 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm April 21, 2021 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm April 22, 2021 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm

HEDC offers five days of training in the basic concepts, information, methods and strategies of local economic development. Graduation from Heartland fulfills one of the education prerequisites for those who wish to go on and obtain their Certified Economic Development (CEcD) credentials. |
