The Heartland Course conference dates are April 22-26, 2019 at the Adams Pointe Conference Center in Blue Springs, MO (Kansas City area). This course is typically the entry-level program for professionals who work in the field of economic development in the public and private sectors. HEDC offers five days of training in the basic concepts, information, methods and strategies of local economic development. Graduation from Heartland fulfills one of the education prerequisites for those who wish to go on and obtain their Certified Economic Development (CEcD) credentials.
Continuing to encourage professional development for our members is important to the Kansas Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) leadership. In that effort, KEDA offers two $595 scholarships to attend the Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC) as well as a $1,000 scholarship to attend either the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) or the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute (OU/EDI) course.
IEDC courses are offered throughout the year and around the country and the training courses are the leading source of education for professionals at all levels. Covering both key topics and specialized issues, courses are designed to be interactive and provide a national perspective with a focus on real life experiences, best practices and tools you can use in your community. OU/EDI provides professional economic developers with the up-to-date knowledge and tools necessary to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. It provides an aggressive three-session program of instruction and research.
